Privacy Policy

San Diego Jewish Business Networking (“we,” “us,” or “the Group”) is an informal networking group organized by David Lizerbram and Daniel Diamond. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information through sdjewishbusiness.com and any of its subdomains (the “Site”).

The short version

You can read this Site without telling us anything about yourself. If you fill out our contact form, we use what you give us to write you back and to let you know about upcoming events. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone outside the Group without your permission.

What we collect

• Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, company name, and whatever you write in the message field. If you email or call an organizer directly, we have whatever you send us.
• Basic technical information. Like most websites, our host records ordinary technical details when a page is loaded, such as an approximate location, browser type, and Internet Protocol (IP) address. We use this only to understand general traffic patterns.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to:

• Reply to your question or request;
• Add you to our email list, if that is what you asked for, and send you notice of upcoming events;
• Keep a record of who has expressed interest in the Group; and
• Keep the Site working and secure.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising on this Site.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with anyone outside the Group for their own marketing purposes. We will share your information outside the Group only if:

• You ask us to, or give us permission;
• It goes to a service provider that helps us run the Site or the email list, and only so that provider can perform that service for us; or
• We are required to do so by law, subpoena, or court order, or we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect someone’s safety or our legal rights.

Service providers we use

The Site is a plain web page hosted by GitHub Pages. Our contact form is a Google Form, and responses are stored in Google Workspace. We use Google Fonts to display type. Each of these companies handles data under its own privacy policy, and we do not control their practices.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data a website asks your browser to store. The pages of this Site do not set advertising or tracking cookies of our own. Two things on the Site may set cookies:

• The contact form. Our form is provided by Google. When it loads, Google may set cookies in your browser, and it will do so whether or not you submit the form.
• Fonts and hosting. Our type and hosting providers may set cookies or log requests as part of delivering the page.

We also store one small item in your browser to remember that you dismissed our cookie notice, so you do not see it on every visit. That item stays on your device and is never sent to us.

You can set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, or to block them entirely. If you block cookies, parts of the Site, including the contact form, may not work correctly.

We do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, because there is no common standard for how to do so.

How long we keep it

We keep contact form responses and email list entries for as long as the Group is active, unless you ask us to remove you. Ask any organizer and we will take you off the list.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to either organizer at the addresses below. Every email we send about events includes a way to unsubscribe. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we will honor those rights.

Children

This Site is meant for adults in business. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Where your information is stored

The Site and our records are hosted on servers in the United States. If you are outside the United States, sending us information means transferring it to the United States, which may not offer the same level of data protection as the laws of your home country.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us, but no method of transmitting or storing data over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee it.

Links to other sites

This Site may link to other websites, including venues and organizers’ businesses. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Please check back before sending us new information.
